About the Author

Andrea Harvey BVSc DSAM(Feline) DipECVIM-CA MRCVS
Andrea graduated from the University of Bristol in 2000 and, after some time in small animal practice, returned to Bristol to undertake a 3-year residency in feline medicine, funded by the Feline Advisory Bureau, remaining as FAB Clinical Fellow in Feline Medicine from 2005 to 2010.  She has since continued to work closely with FAB and the International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM) on various initiatives, particularly the ISFM Cat Friendly Practice Accreditation scheme.  In 2012 she moved to Australia, where she works as a feline clinician in the Small Animal Specialist Hospital, Sydney. Andrea is also the ISFM representative for Australasia, and a tutor on the CVE/ISFM distance education course in feline medicine. She lectures widely internationally and has written numerous articles and book chapters. Andrea is passionate about all aspects of feline medicine, health and welfare, and about supporting and inspiring colleagues in practice to provide the best care for their feline patients.

Séverine Tasker BSc BVSc(Hons) PhD DSAM DipECVIM-CA PGCertHE MRCVS
After graduation from Bristol Veterinary School in 1994, Séverine spent time in practice working for the PDSA before moving to the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, Edinburgh to take up an FAB Residency in Feline Medicine.  She returned to Bristol in 1999, completing her PhD on feline haemoplasma infection in 2002.  She is now a Senior Lecturer in Small Animal Medicine at Bristol.  Working in the Feline Centre and on the molecular side of the diagnostic services of Langford Veterinary Services, she is interested in all aspects of feline medicine, especially infectious diseases and haematological disorders.  Séverine adores all things feline and particularly enjoys teaching veterinary students, nurses and colleagues a holistic approach to feline cases.  She has authored over 100 papers and book chapters and has been an invited speaker at conferences in Europe, USA and Australasia.  In 2008 she was awarded the BSAVA Woodrow Award for outstanding contributions to small animal medicine.

Good information for the cat owner

Although this manual was geared for the professional, I bought it to better understand my cats' medical needs after my oldest girl was diagnosed with CKD. I found that it is easy to read for a layperson like me, and the clear diagrams and photos help explain everything well.

Excellent Basic Reference and Overview

I bought this book since a product I endorse, Kitty Kollar, is recommended in it and I wanted a copy. Upon review of the entire volume, I was impressed at how well the book is organized and the clarity of the information. As the title implies, it appears to be targeted primarily to new graduates who need to know "a little about a lot" as soon as possible. The first chapter about outfitting a cat practice was especially comprehensive as it refers to behavior, safe handling practices, etc. All of this was likely covered in vet school but having such a book as a quick reference would be helpful. As a non-professional whose spouse is a vet, I will keep this volume at home to use as a refresher.

Excellent purchase

I would highly recommend this book. It is clear and simple to follow. It does miss some things out so is not an encyclopedia / comprehensive guide to all diseases that we come across but I also purchased The Feline Patient by Norsworthy and found that the combination of both a comprehensive guide and a quick-reference book such as this is great for a vet interested in feline medicine.

I purchased this book for an Educational Psychology course at UNLV. This was well written and had great information for dealing with kids, and adults. This is a great tool for more than teachers and counselors, but essential for anyone that has ever, and will ever speak to another human being at any point in their life.

Oh my god

Waiting for this book for so long. I laughed at times and was awed at Jacade and Ivy finally admitting to their love. Secrets reveled forgiveness given and blood shed. Can love conqure all? Will Jude be able to do his magic ? What does the future hold? MK wow, once again superb book. The next one can't get here fast enough. I think I'm more in love with Jacade in this book than I was in the first one if that's possible. And Jude, well can't wait to hear more about him. Amazing series so far, if you haven't read it start with Revival, you won't be disappointed.

Rectify is beyond awesome!

Have you ever read a book that's so good, so friggin intense you get lock jaw????!!!! That's really good reading material if the drama gives you lock jaw!

What in the H E double hockey sticks did I read????!!!! Oh. My. Gosh. Becky! Jacade and Ivy slay every idea, every expectation, every experience associated with the word relationship in Rectify! This second installment is by far the best of the two books although book one is totally awesome sauce!!!!

We have in Rectify the underhanded and gritty underbelly of the mafia (love it!), this on again off again love thing between Jacade and Ivy (their bed play is so hot it could heat up the state of Alaska for an entire year), and the mystery of who is Ivy (it's a wonder she's not enshrined in gold) ???!!!! Uh yeah....Ivy's identity gonna definitely blow you away and it's gonna definitely bring the madness in book three, Remedy. I'm ready for the madness....I've got my survival kit ready.....

Five gazillion stars because Jacade and Ivy have definitely found their very own space in my heart! Rectify knocked the ball out the field, court, the entire friggin hemisphere!

Love Jacade and Ivy!

What an amazing ride this book takes you on. This is the second book in the series and I could not put it down. We get to see a part of the past of Jacade and Ivy. The emotions that this book made me feel from happy, to sad and at times I wanted to throw my kindle was just amazing. This was just the best roller coaster ride I have been on in awhile. Ivy is such a strong spirited woman. I loved how Jacade is all alpha male. They make the perfect couple.

Once Ivy discovers some answers from the past will she and Jacade be able to overcome things and move forward? Get the book and find out. I will say the book end with one hell of a great cliffhanger. But the next book looks to be just as good as this one. Mk gets better with each book she writes and I cannot wait for the next book. Five fantastic stars for a job well done.

About the Author

Dennis K. Mumby (Ph.D., M.A., Southern Illinois University; BA, Sheffield Hallam University) is Professor and Chair of Communication Studies at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Fellow of UNC’s Institute for the Arts and Humanities. His research focuses on the relationships among discourse, power, gender, and organizing. A Fellow of the International Communication Association and a National Communication Association Distinguished Scholar, he has published six books and over 50 articles in the area of critical organization studies, and his work has appeared in journals such as Academy of Management Review, Management Communication Quarterly, Communication Monographs, Discourse & Society, and Human Relations. He is past chair of the Organizational Communication Division of NCA, a six-time winner of the division’s annual research award, and a recipient of the division’s Fredric M. Jablin Award for contributions to the field of organizational communication.

Awesome rpg version of an awesome war game

I have played and mastered RPGs sine 1979 and this is one of the best I've ever seen. Based on the Dust Tactics wargame by Paolo Parents. The background is intense and very detailed. If you already play Tactics or Warfare, the background info detailed here will give you a better understanding of the world. The mechanics are very similar to those used for tactics and while simple allow for detailed and complex characters. You can basically create any character you want with a little creativity.

Picture, the year is 1947. World War II still drags on. Hitler us dead, the Nazis are out of power, but the axis fights on. Not only have they recaptured list ground but England us theirs in all but spirit. The Soviet Union has split from the alliance and are enemies in their own right, now allied with China. Your characters are tasked with special missions behind enemy lines, which is virtually everywhere, in an attempt to thwart the plans of those who would control the world. Very pulpy deisal punky kind of stuff.

I bought this 200 some odd page book from reading a few sources about it. I used to play the old DUST board-game awhile back and was excited to see they made this into a tabletop rpg. When I saw it, I purchased it immediately.

I want to start off by saying that this is one of the most horridly edited books I've seen in a pen and paper game.. It totes itself as rules light, but attempts to go in deep by adding customization for technician/builder type classes to make your own items but they are executed poorly. This book WILL drive you into house rules because it flat out doesn't explain anything. Also, if you think you're going to get support for the game, or a community you may what to turn the other way. Steve Hanson, the other reviewer on here, can be seen on almost all Dust related sites. I'm not sure if he works for the company, but he seems to be doing their job as being the PR guy, reviewer, hype machine and rules guru. You won't see hardly anyone else supporting the game as hard as this guy. You will see floaters and people interested (because the concept is awesome) but getting others to crunch, theorize or even talk about the freakin game is next to impossible. This paragraph right here is why I give the game 3/5. It has zero support from anyone. Don't believe me? Go to their forums or try to find a sub-reddit; it’s a utter ghost town.

Now that my negative crap is out of the way. I want to say that I actually do love the game. I've spent a considerable amount of time house ruling and trying to comprehend some of the WEIRD rule decisions made within this book to make it work for my group. It does a great job at capturing the pulp 40's feel and once you chop through the b.s of the poor writing of the guy who did the rules it’s very enjoyable.

The book is presented well enough. You have sort of class kits and backgrounds that weave into each other to give you skills and abilities. There are some pulpy super powers but they're not too over the top (things like super strength, light vampirism or the capability to control/create zombies). Combat is quick once you get it down, but god help you if you want to know definitive answers for things. This is where the heavy house ruling comes in or GM Band-Aid fixes/guesses.

The Art starts off well enough, then it’s like 1/2 way through the book they say "meh, screw it. Let’s put in pictures of miniatures." In an otherwise well-presented book, it’s kind of strange that they opted to show you pictures of miniatures. It has the "feel" down and the "look" through the rustic looking pages for some of the time, then falls on its butt the other times with its sloppy page space and images of painted mini's to show off their game. Yes yes; i know - it’s a miniatures game first and an RPG game 2nd, but how can you put a 60$ price tag on a 200 page book and do that type of crap? It's a slap in the face to your supporters.

The Lore is fun. It's innovative and has some great concepts. It's arguably the only reason to buy this book. I'm a sucker for lore and come from other games like Iron Kingdoms and Symbaroum where the lore brings the setting to life in such fantastic ways. This game does too and the rules actually do a relatively decent job of hitting the feel of it on most occasions until you're derailed by their b.s. The book is divided into three superpowers, or blocs, in World War 2. It comes down to the war being between the Sino-Soviet Union (china/soviet alliance), the AXIS (Germany, etc) and the Allies, where the Nazi's lost control, Hitler was sniped and the Reich disbanded or went into hiding. They found some alien crash landing, got some assistance and starting engineering some advanced tech (pulse guns, tesla weapons, and mech-like walking tanks). On top of that you have the Indiana jones style feel with the pseudo-science / unexplained such as the Templars, Ark of the Covenant, Holy Grail, El Dorado and all that. It really shines here and it’s easy to get the feeling down and a lot of great ideas are in the book for plenty of high sky action.

There is a 2nd book called Operation Apocalypse that does a great job capturing the pulp/National Treasure-esque style campaign that leads you all over France, Jerusalem etc that is very fun and well designed.

Overall, I love this game. I do NOT regret this purchase but the HUGE oversights that were made on this book are just a travesty. This book could have easily been a 5 if someone had just did play tests or just read the damn thing a few times. Whoever they had as an editor did not collaborate at all with play testers what so ever. In short, if you want a good pulpy action game with some cool mech and a miniature product line to back it up; pick this up! Just be warned of the lack of support and some major GM guesses/house rules that you may need to do depending on what your campaign entails. I'd give the setting, world, and flavor, the art that exists, and base gun fights/system a solid 4 out of 5. The 3 stars is for the company and the people who hurt this beautiful product.

About the Author
Sheldon Kennedy skated for three teams in his eight-year NHL career and played for Canada's gold-medal-winning team in the 1988 World Junior Hockey Championship. He is best known for his courageous decision to charge his minor-league hockey coach, Graham James, with sexual assault for the abuse he suffered over a five-year period while a teenager under Graham's care. Sheldon's subsequent decision to go public with the charges rocked the hockey world and thrust him into the media spotlight, where he became an unofficial spokesperson for millions of sexual abuse survivors in North America. His life story was made into an award-winning television movie, and he has appeared on Oprah, ABC's Nightline, W5, and The Fifth Estate.After retiring from the NHL, Sheldon in-line skated across Canada to raise awareness of sexual abuse issues. Sheldon now works as a youth counsellor in Calgary, where he lives with his daughter, Ryan.

The After Effects of Childhood Sexual Abuse

Sheldon Kennedy was a hocky player that seemed destined for greatness. He played for Canada's gold-medal-winning at the 1988 World Junior Hockey Championship. Then when he reached the major leagues he fell apart. It never seemed that his skill or talent was too low, but the drinking, drugs and other off the court antics seemed to create an atmosphere doomed for failure. He drifted through three teams in a nine year career, never reaching the heights that seemed within his grasp.

Upon his retirement, he announced that during his early years of being coached by Graham James he had been sexually molested by James several hundred times.

Most of this book is on the after effects in Kennedy's life as a result of the abuse. It is a story of using drugs and alcohol in an attempt to heal what never should have been in the first place. It was a fierce struggle that is continuing to this day.

Devestatingly honest.

This book isn't for the weak at heart. Sheldon hockey player was the first to come out with allegations against Graham James. The story rocked the hockey community. Although, in recent times, Theo Fleury has received more news for Playing With Fire, I found this one to be a "better" read. It was more coherent and Sheldon is somewhat more eloquent- not relying on cursing to get his picture across. Don't be fooled, this book is not an easy read due to the subject matter, but read in conjunction with Theo's book you get the "whole" picture. Both men have dealt with the devastation well into their adult lives and let us in on what went on, for them, both on and off the ice.

What a powerful and frightening story. Sheldon tells it unflinchingly; it's almost brutal in its honesty. This book should be required reading for every parent, teacher, police officer; it should just be required reading, period.

An art historian specializing in tribal, Precolumbian, and 19th and 20th European art, she is also a practicing artist, working in ceramics. Isaac Asivov is incredible!

Actually, I have not read this book yet but have read 4 previous volumes on his work on the Middle Ages. I will soon tackle his last 4 in this series on the US (which includes this one). Asimov definitely was a genius and writes in a way that makes it easy to understand. I just wish he was around to write more. He is well know for sci-fi, but I love his non-fiction. He's the best!!!

Dr, Asimov's histories tell the stories of previous eras so that even I can understand. His versions are much more clear but complete than traditional school-taught versions. He ties everything together.

excellent as expected

a really great summary of the events that created the colonies and states and their peculiarities that still exist today. And history of names of places is very interesting. I read this after finding and reading and loving the second volume in an English book store years ago. This one is a keeper too!
